  Blog post 4 - San Pedro to Uyuni We had a good day acclimatising in San Pedro, sorting out the food at the local supermarket and finalising our tour.  Our accommodation at San Pedro was in a glamping type of tent which was a new experience. Our tour started early on the 4th as we were picked up in a van at the hostel to join 3 other, two American although he was French but bought up in the UK, and a chap from Ireland. They were all less than half our age but it was great. The French American spoke quite good Spanish which was a god send as our driver/guide only spoke Spanish. The tour started with a drive to the Bolivian border at 4,000m where we had breakfast in the rising sun. Man it was cold. We had lots of layers on. Then we changed vehicles and headed off in a big 4WD Lexus for 3 days on unsealed roads. The area is dotted with old volcanoes which makes for a pretty interesting landscape. Blogpost 15 - Puerto Guadal to Chile Chico, into Argentina and on to El Bolson

 We awoke in Puerto Guadal to an improving day and headed out to Chile Chico which is the last town before you cross the border into Argentina. The travel guide indicated that the road was treacherous with nowhere to stop. It clearly was quite narrow with tight corners in places but we had plenty of places to pull over a fill the camera with more photos. The road was so much fun to drive and the views terrific that I would happily drive it again.  Once agin the supposed 2.5 hour drive took us about 6 hrs. We stopped and talked to a couple about our age who were driving a 6 wheel 6 wheel drive Mercedes Camper. They had shipped it over from Europe for then trip. It has got us thinking again about where to next.  Driving a camper around this part of the world would have been great. The towns, both large and small leave very little to be desired but you are forced to stay in them. Blogpost 8 - Lake Titicaca in Bolivia to Arequipa in Peru

Sorry about delay in this post but we finally had a nice place to be to write it. So here goes We caught a ferry from Isla del Sol back to Copacabana that made a slow boat to China look like a speed boat. Then onto a bus to the Bolivian/Peru boarder. Thankfully the crossing went without a hitch which was not what we had expected. Then on around the edge of lake Titicaca to Puno where we successfully brought our ticket forward from a 10pm departure to 5.30, thanks to the most helpful person in the information office who spoke good English.  After the bumpiest bus ride you could ever imagine, despite the road being sealed, and a stop to check for people being smuggled, we arrived in Arequipa at 1.30 am. Thankfully out hostel had 24 hr check in but this was it’s only redeeming feature! This hostel and the ongoing unknown parts of our trip put me into a state of anxiety which is something I have never experienced before.
